I thought a comeback would surface in 2009 like so many other funds, but HFCGX has lost so many assets which puts it in a terrible position to manage. 10/1/2007 | Solid ChoiceREVIEWER: Henry This fund has a nice balance of growth and value and mid and small-caps. It held up well in a bear market and Hennessy says that's the value component doing its job. Having some trouble this year keeping pace, but not enough for me to jump ship. 2/26/2007 | Needs the Human TouchREVIEWER: Dow Tao The Fund has a terrific record. But, the risk here, as I see it, is that the Fund uses a quantitative model and timing is not always impeccable. Also, the expenses are pricey and its a concentrated portfolio. Know how the Fund works and weigh your options carefully. The numbers for past performance are great, but there's too much reliance on computers making decisions without the variation needed at times. 5 year trailing return is 15.70, ranking it number 12 in its category and that's compelling.
