9/23/2008 | House of MirrorsREVIEWER: MoneyBird ETF's don't sell short. They use futures and what are called "swaps". Equity swaps are an exchange of cash flow using equity indices. To do a swap you have to have a counterparty to play with. The counterparty DOES short stocks to hedge its bets. Now, since the counterparty cannot short financials most are unwilling to do a swap. There are some grey areas as to what SKF and others like it can actually do when in this current dilemma. Too complicated. This a risk-averse ETF and the shareholders are betting that banks et al are going south. What an irony!! Imagine this: You buy this ETF to profit from financials tanking and then find it has stopped trading. Well- now everyone says it should start trading at a premium because there will be no new shares issued. What the? Tell me, what do you actually own now at this ETF? ... Read full review |
